LA Epicurean Festival 2012

On Sunday, August 26, 2012, the Los Angeles Epicurean Festival takes place in Historic Downtown LA and will bring together culinary specialties and extraordinary wines & spirits, under one roof in a casual setting. Products that usually are only available to Chefs are being offered at the Festival. Attendees will be able to pair and compare, taste and take home their favorite selections.

Epicurean Cup 

  • The Epicurean Cup is a competition, in which four contestants are randomly selected to form three teams. Each team will work together to accomplish their tasks, just like in hospitality industry environment. Each team will have access to the purveyor’s food and beverages on the floor, the pantry on the stage and one hour to complete their task.

The Tasks 

  • Chef: create a main course
  • Sommelier: pair wine with main course
  • Pastry chef: create a dessert
  • Mixeologist: create a summer time cocktail

Aiden Demarest 

  • Liquid Assets is an independent consulting firm that has come forth through the combined efforts of Los Angeles Based cocktail Gurus Aiden Demarest and Marcos Tello. Stemming from their desire to elevate the cocktail community, they provide individual classic cocktail education, spirits training and bar concept & design. They have consulted for numerous spirit brands nationwide by keeping a finger on the pulse of new trends and marketing ideas. They have produced some of the most successful beverage programs the LA hospitality industry has seen in decades.

Brian Stewart 

  • “Spirit Master” at Petit Ermitage , a boutique hotel in West Hollywood, where he designs the cocktail list for the Private Rooftop Club. “Cocktails are my passion… bartending is not a hobby, nor a side job, it is what I do. I love the history and the culture that goes with it all”. Brian believes that Classic Cocktails are the best way to go, and that’s where he draws a lot of his inspiration. While trying to keep new and innovative, he feels it’s important to know that no bartender is inventing the wheel behind the bar, but merely revisiting it. “I am very excited to be involved in this competition, and to have the chance to work next to Los Angeles’ best minds in the Restaurant business, because I feel we have one of the best food and drink scenes in the country”.
